Assignment 2
BG Plates
In video production, background plates are used as a way to replace something in a shot with a "cleaner" backdrop. A common example of this would be to use a plate as the background for a documentary interview, effectively replacing the controlled studio environment with something more natural. Background plates can also be used behind titles or other animated objects. In general, background plates are a part of a post-production process, where the background is replaced with something else. For this assignment, you will create some background plates that will be relatively abstract in nature. Our background plates could be used as a pause screen or for behind a menu. A related tutorial will be assigned that explores some processes related to creating background plates.
